Sopheons Notes

Simple notes, proper memory

Notes opens at your notes list and remembers your browsing filters on this device. Your device drafts stay available in the list. Use Tools & filters for notebooks, Pinned, Offline, Archive, the menu, graph, and connection details.

Write normally. Your draft saves on this device as you type. Add a title to sync it to your memory; shopping ticks save immediately.

  1. Tap to create a memory.
  2. Give it a title and write in Markdown.
  3. Recent shows your latest notes and recoverable drafts. Tap a star to add a note to Pinned. Search still finds other memories.
  4. Written in filters by the month a note was created, even if you edit it later. Choose All months to see the whole list, newest first. Undated notes appear under No creation date. Search includes titles and contents within the selected month and notebook; your Mac does not need to be connected. Archive and Versions remain in their own views.
  5. Archive hides a note from Recent, Pinned, Offline, normal search and the graph without deleting it. Open the Archive tab to read or restore it. In Versions, select a saved copy on the right and choose Archive selected version to hide it from the version choices.
  6. Shopping and Book notebooks organise your working notes. Set a chapter number to order Book chapters. Versions saves named snapshots, compares complete text, and restores an earlier draft with a recovery copy. Versions are stored in your shared online library.
  7. Device & connection shows download readiness and connection status. Pin notes, then choose Download missing pinned notes before leaving. A pin alone is a bookmark; A note marked Online library has not yet been downloaded to this device.
  8. Opened notes stay available under Offline. The latest 30 reading copies are retained; Keep offline and pinned notes are kept beyond that limit. These choices belong to this device.
  9. Open a note while connected to the website to download its reading copy. Your Mac is not needed. Clearing browser data removes device copies and unsynced drafts.
  10. Open Memory graph for a separated overview of the largest hub clusters. Open a hub or search for a memory to see its direct connections.
  11. To edit connections, focus the first memory and tap Select for connection. Focus the second memory, then choose Connect memories or Remove connection. Use Full window for the largest workspace.
  12. In Related memories, type a title or ID and choose an existing node. Use FoodBlog recipes for shopping lists.
  13. Shopping lists open in a touch-friendly view: tick an item when it is bought, remove anything you do not need, and use Add for suggestions from previous lists.
  14. Use Done to return to your notes. Saving is automatic; Review versions shows both copies if a sync conflict occurs. Choose the device or online version, or decide later. The unchosen copy remains under Recent as a recovery draft. A newer online copy is never replaced silently.
  15. You can edit or delete online memories here. Deleted files are retained in the private library version history for recovery; changed notes are never silently overwritten.
  16. On a wide web screen, use the sidebar button in the top bar to hide or show the notes list. On iPad and smaller screens, the list hides automatically while a note is open.

Your library is stored privately on the server and shared by both Sopheons websites. Edits save there without your Mac. Unsynced drafts stay on this device until the website reconnects. The Mac can keep an optional iCloud replica.

Document versions

Restoring the version on the right first saves your current draft as a recovery version. The restored draft uses the normal sync conflict checks.

Your pinned notes

Pin the notes you want to take with you, then download missing copies here. Existing copies and edits are kept. To refresh an older copy, open its note and choose Refresh from library.

These reading copies belong to this device. Keep the app signed in for offline use. Clearing website data can remove downloaded notes and unsynced drafts.

Choose the version to keep

Both copies are safe. Compare their text and details, then choose which version you want to use.

A few letters at a time

My handwriting

Write one letter in the box with your Pencil. Save it when it feels like you. The starter font fills in the letters you haven’t added yet.

Write a

Write naturally at a comfortable size. Your letter will be resized to fit the text. The guide lines are optional.

Use a browser with canvas support to draw your letter.

This preview includes your current drawing. Notes use your saved letters. Size changes both the preview and your notes.

Letters and practice drafts are kept in this browser on this device. Handwriting has its own backup: Export letters saves your letters and practice drafts, separately from your notes. Import adds missing letters and keeps any you already have.

Memory graph

See the structure

The overview separates your largest hubs into clusters and bundles the links between them. Open a cluster or search for a memory to inspect and edit its direct connections.
